British made Steam Fire Engines

Spread the love

British Steam Fire Engines’ has been created to record the preserved steamers that exist, not only in the UK, but around the world.

Since Braithwaite & Ericsson first coupled a steam engine to a fire pump thousands of machines have been built in Britain, primarily by two companies; Merryweather & Sons and Shand Mason & Co.

Both exported their production to all parts of the globe, a number of which still exist and I am endeavouring to record them in words and pictures. If you have knowledge of any not featured in these pages please let me know, I would love to hear from you.

Numerous people aided me, on a previous website, with this project and I have would like to give them the credit they deserve. However many of the contacts I had from that site have been lost and I am trying to renew them. If you feel I have missed out an acknowledgement you believe is due please let me know so that it can be corrected, I am more happy to put it right and would like to get in touch with you once more.
